Scottsdale Bike Co.
This project was one of my favorites, not only because it was bicycle-related but because this logo was going to be the identity of my friend’s new business venture. Jordan and I met many years ago while spinning wrenches in a bike shop in Tucson. When he told me his plans and my role in it all, I was excited to get started.
The logo itself came together relatively quickly with the shop name over Camelback Mountain—the range directly behind the shop—and two saguaro cacti to represent Scottsdale's desert landscape. The name was handwritten to reflect the bespoke customer experience the shop would offer. I introduced sprocket teeth as the logo border to reinforce the service side of the business and promote instant recognition. The colors of the logo were influenced by traditional southwestern hues and the neighboring university’s colors. I also created various renditions of the logo to be used for signage and marketing materials.
