Sushi Nara
This is a hand-lettered logo I designed to mimic a traditional Hanko seal. I referenced an appropriate typeface that stacked nicely and had the correct proportions to fit with the other elements I created. I made adjustments to the apex of both “A”s in “Nara” to create visual contrast similar to the letterforms found in a Hanko while maintaining maximum legibility.
The client requested this graphic to use on employee uniforms, but I was thinking on a larger scale while designing it. If it is received well and promotes the restaurant’s reputation and character effectively, I wanted to be sure it could develop into a good logomark for all of their signage and marketing in the future.
